"Beating the Odds" school

A Georgia "Beating the Odds" (BTO) school is a public school that performs better than expected when compared to schools with similar student characteristics, such as poverty, disability, and mobility rates. This "Beating the Odds" designation is calculated by the Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) using a statistical model that predicts a school's performance on the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) and compares it to its actual CCRPI score. Schools with a higher-than-predicted score are considered to be "Beating the Odds".
